Aloha, Welcome to Paradise!

So you are thinking about planning a trip to Maui-congrats, it's going to be a great trip.  The island is pretty large so I will try to break it down for you. 

Wailea:

I have stayed in Wailea at the Grand Wailea and the Andaz Maui & Wailea Resort.  

The Grand Wailea is a larger, luxury resort with two pools, a lazy river, rope swing, water-slides, etc... It is very kid friendly! So, for you parents out there it might be the hotel for you. I would highly recommend this hotel to families! Right on the water-view of the ocean from all decks and the pool.  

For adults, there is a more isolated pool on the upper deck. The lower level is more activity driven. 

The Andaz Maui was amazing.  Isolated from the rest of the strip, with four tiers of infinity pools overlooking Mokapu Beach.  This hotel has been recently renovated and offers 2 restaurants, 2 poolside bars, exercise room and spa.

Restaurants to try:

Mama's Fish House:  Is a MUST-i'm not kidding. This was one of our best nights in Maui. It is about a 35 minute drive from Wailea, so plan accordingly. The fish is caught daily--if you plan on going make sure to make reservations far out in advance.  Lunch you can get in, but if its a busy travel time-dinners can be tough. 

Morimoto Maui at Andaz Maui: Great restaurant for sushi! If you have not been to any of his other restaurants I recommend asking your waiter for suggestions.  Instead of a large entree, maybe try out multiple appetizers. You won't be steered wrong. 

Humuhumunukunukuapua'a at Grand Wailea: Yes, the title is very long, but it is the name of a fish-a reef trigger fish! Great food in a nice atmosphere.  Also, great wine list.  We found our favorite wine, Caymus 40th Anniversary, on the menu at a great price as well!!

DUO Steak & Seafood at Four Seasons Wailea: Great dining experience which can always be expected from The Four Seasons.
