Dublin is a fun city and I'm sure on some of your travel lists; however, I think you are fine visiting here 2 days at the most.  This depends of course on the length of your trip.  Don't get me wrong, I like Dublin, but if you are looking to see the countryside of Ireland-spend a few nights in Dublin causing havoc near Temple Bar then go from there.

Temple Bar

Temple Bar

My first trip here, we stayed at the lovely Merrion Hotel. It is a gorgeous luxury boutique with a courtyard, indoor pool, exercise room, and a cave bar.  The place is still hopping into the wee hours.  We came back from a crazy night on the town around 3-4am (jetlag we will blame) and the place was still rockin'.  This could be my ideal spot: Lux, Class & Fun all in one spot.
